new stationary

  1. hey tori i really like how you have the design working here. the only concern that i have is in the letter head. if that blue is very virbrant and overpowering it might now allow for more room to place the text on it. I would say that you chould maybe change the opacity of the design so that if they printed something on it then the black or whatever color that they use would sit well on top of it. Other than that I really like the illustration. the line work that you are using is working very well and everything is very balanced. It has a very soothing feeling from it and i see a lot of potential with it. I know that your pushing yourself and you should keep it up. I think you have a great concept to work with

  2. Hey Tori! Took the time to relook at the stationery, and I feel you're getting too illustrative all around. Not saying it's a bad thing (I love illustration more than anything), but I feel you can step back a bit.

For the letterhead, I do like the placement for the information and for the logo. As well as for the leaves illustration at the top left. For the rest, however, I feel it's not needed. Maybe instead of having the illustrative mark in the background, you could use it to replace the leaves at the bottom of the letterhead. The butterfly is more of the illustrative mark than the leaves, so let the butterfly have more attention. Either that, or you could change the opacity of the illustrative mark as being the backdrop of the stationery...it's too strong, and causes a distraction when viewing it (from seeing it on screen). Unless you printed it out with a body of type and it works fine, smooth.

For the envelope, maybe you can make the illustration of the butterfly and the leaves a little smaller. It'll give more room for the address...as well as not having some of the illustration being cropped off (the leaves at the bottom). That, or you could place both of them on the back of the envelope...Or you could scrap both illustrations, and then place the butterfly mark on the flap of the envelope. :)

For the business card, step back from the illustrations. It's too much going on to where the type and information is not getting the proper attention. Trust me, I wanted to splash with lots of illustration, but at the end of the day, people want to know the contact information.

You could take the logo off the blue side, and you can leave the tagline there. It's a nice tagline, and it's getting overshadowed by the cropped versions of the butterfly. Maybe you can have the leaves there (a nice size) on the blue side with the tagline instead of the cropped sides of the butterfly...and on the back with the information, you have the logo (nice size) and the information...enough room to go nuts and to explore.

Another idea you could think (don't have to really do it, but something to think about) is to maybe come up with an envelope/case for the business card...maybe a cocoon or something where it has flaps for butterfly wings. :) Just a thought.

You have potential to make these pieces really spectacular Tori, so it'll be interesting to see where you take this further. :) And...the ads will be coming up soon...that's where the real fun begins. ;)
